control

This poster is a continuation from the first one, but it's about the amount of control the Fed has on this country, which is overwhelming regarding the fact that our country runs on our economy. I'm still working on it. I want to list the things the Fed controls inside the word CONTROL, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how it can fit in those small spaces.

A side note, there is sooo much research on the topic of the Federal Reserve System. I'm completely overwhelmed and I'm still trying to narrow my topic so that this process can be a little easier. I'm realizing that I cannot cover even the general subjects of the Federal Reserve System. Although I want to uncover all the mysteries of this institution, I don't think I will be able to with the given time. I'm thinking that maybe I can just focus on the most pivotal factors the Fed handles and show that the Fed should not have that much power and control on a country that is thought to be free.

Subjects:
1. maximum employment
2. stabilizing prices
3. moderating rates

images?

I added an image of people working to help convey "money=slavery," but I don't really know how much it helps. I'm kind of stuck. I know the poster is still vague, but I don't really know what else to do to help communicate my message without adding more text.

slavery poster continued

here's an updated version of the poster. i'm not sure about that green. i think i still like the black and white, but i think it does "pop" more with color. i'm open for suggestions with the color... and whatever else have you...

type specimen (version 2)

I changed some of the typefaces and sizes from the first version. I really wanted to use Akkurat and Type 1451. I didn't change that much because I liked the placement and diagonal grid system I had.

slavery

the poster's subject reflects my personal feelings towards money and its affect on people and society. slavery has many forms and i think money is a form of control to enslave people to perpetually work to make money for most of their lives.

type specimen

the first versions of my type specimen posters.
the text are quotes from political figures that were against the Federal Reserve System.

fyi: our bills say in fine print, "Legal Tender" when it used to say "reedemable in gold"

ron paul

"Since the creation of the Federal Reserve, middle and working-class Americans have been victimized by a boom-and-bust monetary policy. In addition, most Americans have suffered a steadily eroding purchasing power because of the Federal Reserve's inflationary policies. This represents a real, if hidden, tax imposed on the American people.

From the Great Depression, to the stagflation of the seventies, to the burst of the dotcom bubble last year, every economic downturn suffered by the country over the last 80 years can be traced to Federal Reserve policy. The Fed has followed a consistent policy of flooding the economy with easy money, leading to a misallocation of resources and an artificial "boom" followed by a recession or depression when the Fed-created bubble bursts.

With a stable currency, American exporters will no longer be held hostage to an erratic monetary policy. Stabilizing the currency will also give Americans new incentives to save as they will no longer have to fear inflation eroding their savings. Those members concerned about increasing America's exports or the low rate of savings should be enthusiastic supporters of this legislation."

we think we know

"Our great industrial nation is controlled by its system of credit. Our system of credit is privately concentrated, the growth of the nation, therefore, and all of our activities are in the hands of a few men... who necessarily, by very reason of their own limitations, chill and check and destroy genuine economic freedom."

"We have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated governments in the civilized world-no longer a government by free opinion, no longer a government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a government by the opinion and duress of small groups of dominant men."

-Thomas Woodrow Wilson
 28th US President
passed the Federal Reserve Act in 1913 and later wrote the above quotes

thesis proposal

The topic of my thesis is the Federal Reserve System, which entails all its workings with money, interest rates, and debts. The purpose of this topic is to unveil the conspicuous authority of the Federal Reserve System and learn about how our country is controlled by money. My process includes an enormous amount of research, lots of reading, possibly some interviews or surveys.

my current portfolio

a portfolio website designed to be very interactive and fun. i wanted everything to feel organic, which captures the style of some of my work.
a poster on the theme of "rhythm," which led me to another thing...

cover.
back.

inside panels.
194 recordings presents "from the highs to the lows" cd packaging design. a friend who started a student-run record label at NYU approached me to design the cd for their first release. i showed her a previous piece that i created on the topic of music and rhythm, which she loved and asked if that could be the cd cover. everything else came from there...

i sketch a lot when i'm bored, which is mostly done when i'm at work. i took some of those sketches and applied them to my collages...

three pages from a book compiled of work done in communication design class. these collages were based on the idea that inspiration comes from everywhere.  the created settings are surreal, which can be a real place or in one's mind, which is how inspiration works.

one of my favorite pieces. a psychedelic-inspired poster with an emphasis on typography. the topic was relevant in that Darfur's situation is today's 1960's or 1970's tragedies.

the layouts consist of given images and type(captions, headlines, bylines, etc.) the placement of photos, cropping and addition of graphics were the techniques i used to creatively make the layouts more interesting and to add an element of surprise.

this series is a combination of two artist's work, Adreas Gursky and Uta Barth. the project was to create a portfolio for two chosen artists. my decision on the two artist was based on their style, one photographer being sharp and complex, while the other photographer captures a facade that is blurred.

these are a series of patterns on the topic of "past, present and future." the project was to create three layouts based on the given topic and i chose to create patterns using letter forms.
top to bottom: past, present and future.
